This was from a few weeks ago... Our second project in intro to animation was to do a flip book: basically your standard three second nonsense animation test.
So essentially, I decided to use one of my more developed characters, Cashel, (also painted here [link]) and throw him in some matching fantasy-esc scene.
That is really nice!
I think with some extra frames in between for more smoothness and some staggering of the frames when he's pulling it out, this could be perfect!
I like this; very fluent not to mention the impact I can laugh at when he falls over. Though I do feel an inconsistency when he's pulling out the sword.
His armpits, the little sleeve hole switches from cover to uncover in a weird fashion.
Now I'm no flash genius; my own being anatomically incorrect, but even I could see it popping out as a problem... and I can't even see 5 meters one way w/o glasses =\
I hope that statement helped bring you down and make you feel like complete and total shit.
But seriously though, jk. I like the animation, nice balance of the use of two programs. Though the cave background could use a little more definition. Also, armpits.
Yeah I was aware of the sleeves. Shouldn't be to hard to insert some sleeve holes - I think it was just a matter of not having drawn the character in profile before so I don't really totally know Cashel backwards and forwards each time I sit down to draw him.
Nice catch with the hand flickering back on ng. I thought I had updated that frame. More definition to the cave is a nice thought, but I'll probably just save the time on detail for a more significant project - like my personal ng stuff.
